SHEEMA, UGANDA — October 7, 2026 — The death toll remains at three people following a fatal road crash that occurred at about 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, in Kabwohe Town, Sheema District.

According to preliminary police investigations, an Isuzu box-body truck, registration number UA 234DK, was travelling from Bushenyi towards Mbarara when the driver reportedly lost control at Kabwohe.

The truck knocked and killed two pedestrians before colliding with seven motor vehicles and one motorcycle parked along the road. It eventually came to a stop against a building.

The three people confirmed dead include the driver of the truck.

The vehicles involved were identified as:

* UAV 834R – Toyota Raum
* UA 538EG – Toyota Sienta
* UBN 195Y – Toyota Wish
* UAP 900L – Range Rover
* UA 601DG – Toyota Sienta
* UAZ 141M – Toyota Premio
* UFA 859M – UG Boss

Two people who sustained injuries were rushed to Kabwohe Health Centre IV, where they are receiving medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were also conveyed to the facility’s mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution and reduce their speed when approaching busy areas.

SP Kananura Michael, PRO/CLO Traffic, said excessive speed reduces the time available for drivers to identify hazards, react and safely bring their vehicles to a stop.
