Ugandan musician and radio personality Derrick Ddungu, popularly known as Rickman Manrick, is making a return to his football roots after joining Express FC.

The move marks a new chapter for Rickman, who previously pursued football before establishing himself in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Rickman’s football journey started with Kampala Junior Team (KJT) and Friends of Football, before he moved to Sweden, where he featured for clubs including Dalen KFF, Gunnilse IS and Sävedalen IF.
His playing career was later disrupted by knee injuries, including an ACL injury in 2016, prompting him to focus more on music. He subsequently became known for songs such as “Ebango,” “Beautiful Mami” and “Ayizulu.”
Now, the entertainer is back on the pitch with Express FC, popularly known as the Red Eagles, as the club prepares for the new season.
The move gives Rickman an opportunity to revive a football dream that was interrupted years ago, while adding an interesting celebrity dimension to Express FC’s squad.
From the studio back to the stadium—Rickman Manrick is ready to kick again.
