Retired General Salim Saleh has taken a swipe at musician King Saha over lyrics in his song Akamwanyi, insisting that Uganda’s coffee is back and urging Ugandans to support the newly launched Uganda Coffee Group.

Gen Salim Saleh

Saleh made the remarks during the launch of the Uganda Coffee Group, where he challenged the narrative surrounding the country’s coffee industry and called on Ugandans to take an active role in promoting the sector.

“King Saha lied in the Akamwanyi song when he said their coffee was stolen. I want to assure him today that the coffee is back,” Saleh said.

His comments bring a political and economic twist to the debate surrounding King Saha’s Akamwanyi song, which has drawn attention for its message about coffee and the concerns surrounding Uganda’s coffee industry.

Saleh also used the occasion to rally Ugandans behind the Uganda Coffee Group, emphasising the importance of supporting the country’s coffee sector.

Coffee remains one of Uganda’s key agricultural exports, providing livelihoods for millions of households and contributing to the country’s export earnings.

Saleh’s remarks are likely to reignite discussion among music fans and the wider public over the song’s message and the state of Uganda’s coffee industry.
