  • Fibroids and Fertility: What Women Should Know

Ugandan singer Irene Ntale has opened up about the emotional pain of wanting children while navigating health challenges, calling out societal pressure on married women who have not yet become mothers.

The singer, who underwent surgery to remove 30 uterine fibroids earlier this year, shared an emotional message describing the difficulty of dealing with personal health struggles while facing public judgment over her journey to motherhood.

Ntale, who got married earlier this year, expressed frustration with people who question married women about having children without considering the private challenges they may be experiencing.

In a message shared online, the singer described the emotional burden of wanting children but feeling that her body needed more time to heal.

“Life is so weird! You wake up one day and you want to have kids and then your body isn’t in position to do it for you just yet and then you try your best and get it to heal and then while it’s chaos and storms people still shame you for not having children!” she wrote.

She also criticised those who assume that marriage should automatically be followed by parenthood.

“Bagamba Mbu ohhh bakuwasa naye nga Tewali bana! People really assume the position of God! Wow! God hold me!” she added.

Ntale concluded her message by acknowledging the emotional weight of the moment, writing, “Cz tonight is exceptionally difficult.”

The Journey Through Fibroid Surgery

Ntale’s latest revelation comes approximately two and a half months after she first publicly shared details of her battle with uterine fibroids.

In late July 2026, the singer revealed that doctors had removed 30 fibroids from her uterus during surgery in Uganda.

She disclosed the information while encouraging another woman who was preparing to undergo a similar procedure, explaining that she was four weeks and four days into her recovery.

“4weeks 4days post op! 30removed! Vertical incision! Healing very well. The first week was hell! The gas pains after surgery! But after that everything starts to slowly feel normal again. Did my surgery in Uganda,” she wrote.

Her revelation attracted widespread attention across entertainment platforms, with many fans applauding her willingness to share an experience that affects many women.

Why She Initially Kept Her Health Struggles Private

On August 1, 2026, Ntale explained that she had not intended to make her medical journey public so soon.

She said her original comment was meant to encourage a woman preparing for fibroid surgery rather than draw attention to her personal life.

“Truthfully, I had hoped to share this part of my life in my own time and in my own way. But perhaps this is simply how the story was meant to begin,” she wrote.

She added that having recently undergone the procedure herself, she wanted the other woman to know she was not alone.

Ntale also confirmed that the surgery had been successful and expressed gratitude for her recovery.

“By God’s grace, my surgery was successful, and I’m grateful to be healing a little more each day,” she said.

The singer promised to share more details of her experience when she felt ready, with the hope that her story would encourage other women dealing with fibroids.

Shortly after releasing the statement, she also spoke light-heartedly about a change in her physical appearance following the operation, describing her flatter tummy as an unexpected bonus.

Fibroids and Fertility: What Women Should Know

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. They are relatively common, and many women with fibroids can conceive and have healthy pregnancies.

However, depending on their size, number and location, some fibroids may affect fertility or increase the risk of certain pregnancy complications.

Treatment options vary according to an individual’s condition and reproductive plans. In some cases, surgery to remove fibroids may improve the chances of conception, although the outcome differs from one person to another.

Ntale has not publicly confirmed that she has been diagnosed with infertility. Her latest message reflects the emotional difficulty of wanting children while dealing with health challenges and recovery.

The Pressure on Married Women to Become Mothers

Ntale’s experience has also reignited conversations about the expectations placed on women after marriage.

In many communities, newly married women face questions about when they intend to have children, with some subjected to criticism if they do not conceive soon after their wedding.

Such questions can overlook the medical, emotional and personal circumstances that influence decisions about parenthood.

For women experiencing fertility concerns or recovering from surgery, repeated inquiries can add to an already difficult period.

Ntale’s message serves as a reminder that marriage does not guarantee immediate parenthood and that a woman’s reproductive journey is deeply personal.

As the singer continues her recovery, her candid account has brought attention to the need for greater empathy towards women facing reproductive health challenges.

Her story highlights an important message: behind the questions about motherhood may be a private struggle that the world knows nothing about.
