Ugandan music star Cindy Sanyu has celebrated the remarkable growth of the local music industry, applauding Ugandan artists for their increasing ability to fill some of the country’s biggest entertainment venues.
Cindy said the industry has come a long way from a time when venues such as Africana Hotel were considered the peak for major local performances. Today, Ugandan artists are confidently staging successful concerts at Lugogo and Kololo Independence Grounds, venues that were once largely associated with international acts.

She highlighted the achievements of artists including Eddy Kenzo, Ray G and King Saha, as well as the highly publicised Cindy Vs Sheebah music battle, all of which attracted huge crowds to Kololo.
For Cindy, the growing support for local artists is about more than packed concerts. She believes a thriving music industry contributes to the wider economy through employment, taxes and other business opportunities
“Next you know, we will be performing in Namboole stadium as a Ugandan artist,” Cindy said, expressing optimism about the future of local entertainment.
However, it was her final message that left fans particularly curious. Cindy teased something major planned for March 7, 2027, urging her supporters to mark the date on their calendars while keeping the details under wraps for now.
