Ugandan creative entrepreneur Julius Kyazze has been recognised among the 100 Most Influential Africans, marking another major continental recognition for his contribution to the creative and entertainment industry.
Kyazze is widely known as the co-founder of Swangz Avenue, one of Uganda’s leading music and entertainment companies, which he established alongside Benon Mugumbya. Over nearly two decades, his work has expanded beyond music into entertainment, media, marketing and other areas of the creative economy.

Through LIVE54+, Kyazze is now pursuing a broader vision of building an African creative group bringing together businesses and investments in music, experiential marketing, media, content, creative services and talent.

Reflecting on the recognition, Kyazze said he has always been more focused on building businesses than talking about his achievements.
“I’ve always been more comfortable building than talking about the building. So recognition like this is a moment to appreciate how far we have come, but also to remember how much more there is to do.”
His entrepreneurial journey has also included involvement in Buzz Group Africa, an experiential marketing business operating across several African markets, alongside other ventures in the creative sector.
For Kyazze, the bigger goal is to demonstrate that Africa’s creative talent can generate not only successful artists and entertainment projects, but also large, sustainable and African-owned businesses.

He says the next phase for the continent’s creative industry should focus on ownership of companies, platforms, intellectual property and infrastructure built around African creativity.
While his ambitions increasingly extend beyond Uganda, Kyazze continues to view the country as an important part of his story. His recognition is also being viewed as a reflection of the growing potential of Ugandan creative businesses to gain relevance across the continent.
For Kyazze, however, the recognition is not the end of the journey.
“There is still a lot to build.”
