The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lino Anguzu, has clarified that Rose Tusiime, the woman who was with late Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu on the night he was fatally attacked, will not be charged over his death.
Instead, Tusiime is expected to appear as a key prosecution witness in the case against Vincent Arnold Nsamba, alias Sitenda, who is accused in connection with Matovu’s death.
Matovu died on September 24, 2026, after he was allegedly attacked in Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division.
Tusiime’s presence during the events leading up to the singer’s death had attracted public attention, with questions raised over why she had not been charged alongside the suspect.
However, DPP Anguzu has now put those concerns to rest, explaining that the prosecution does not intend to place Tusiime in the dock. Instead, her account is expected to form part of the evidence against Nsamba.
Nsamba was arrested and remanded to Luzira Prison as investigations into Matovu’s death continued.
The case is scheduled to come up for hearing on November 3, 2026, when the prosecution is expected to begin presenting its case.
The clarification by the DPP comes as public interest remains high in the circumstances surrounding Matovu’s final hours and the events that allegedly led to his death.
