The Busoga Kingdom has postponed its planned coronation celebrations that were scheduled to take place from September 13 to 19 at the Mayuge District headquarters, in honour of the late King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Kingdom officials said the decision was made to allow Busoga subjects and other Ugandans to fully participate in the burial and final send-off of the late Tooro monarch.
The postponement comes as the country continues to mourn King Oyo, whose death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from leaders, cultural institutions and Ugandans across the country.
Despite the changes to the coronation week programme, the Gabula Day celebrations scheduled for September 9 will proceed under a revised programme.
The coronation celebrations had been expected to bring together cultural leaders, subjects and other guests in Mayuge for a week-long programme of activities. A new date for the postponed celebrations is yet to be announced.
