FORT PORTAL — Access to the Tooro Kingdom Palace has reportedly been restricted for media personnel as tensions continue to rise over the succession of the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Journalists and content creators on the ground report being prevented from accessing the palace, with some alleging that they are being asked not to enter the premises with their mobile phones.

The reported restrictions come amid a deepening succession dispute. The late King Oyo’s family has maintained that he left a young son who should succeed him, while the royal succession committee has selected his cousin, Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, as the next Omukama.

There are also unconfirmed reports that the alleged baby prince has been brought to the palace. These claims have not yet been independently verified by INNo sOFt UG.

Meanwhile, reports circulating in Fort Portal suggest that CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba could visit the palace today, although this has not been officially confirmed.

The reported media blackout at the palace comes as government-led efforts continue to resolve the succession impasse ahead of King Oyo’s burial, which is scheduled for Saturday.
