Uganda Police are facing growing questions over why singer Bebe Cool’s black Toyota Land Cruiser has seemingly avoided the ongoing crackdown on vehicles operating without proper registration plates.

The concerns emerged during the ongoing Tekeleza Sheria traffic operation, which has seen police target motorists accused of driving without number plates, concealing registration plates or using unauthorised sirens and flashing lights.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2026, Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura said officers arrested 18 additional drivers during an operation along the eastern route in Mukono. The motorists were reportedly found driving vehicles fitted with illegal sirens and swivelling lights and were detained pending court proceedings.
Police have also warned that motorists found driving vehicles without registration plates, using concealed plates or installing unauthorised warning lights and sirens will be arrested and prosecuted.
The warning has since triggered debate on social media, with users questioning why similar action has not apparently been taken against Bebe Cool, whose black Land Cruiser has repeatedly been seen on the road without ordinary registration plates.
Questions are now being directed at Traffic Police for clarification on the circumstances surrounding the vehicle and whether it meets the requirements under the current enforcement operation.
