The Woman Member of Parliament for Mityana District and Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Judith Nabakooba, today led a massive sensitization meeting for LC1 Chairpersons and their executives on their roles and government wealth creation programs.

The meeting, held in Mityana Municipality, brought together hundreds of LC1 leaders from across the district.

“You are the Presidents of your villages. If you do your work well, all government programs will succeed. If you sleep, they will fail,” she said.

The Minister sensitized them on all wealth creation programs:
1. Parish Development Model
(PDM): The flagship program with Shs. 100M per parish for subsistence households to join the money economy through PDM SACCOs.
1. Emyooga: For skilled organized groups.
2. UWEP, YLP, GROW: For women and youth.

After the sensitization, Hon.
Nabakooba officially commissioned this year’s PDM beneficiaries for Mityana Municipality.
She congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to use the money for the intended enterprises – piggery, poultry, coffee, dairy, and produce – and to pay back to the revolving fund so that others can also benefit.
“PDM is not a handout. It is seed capital. Use it well to get out of poverty,” she emphasized.

The LC1 Chairpersons thanked Hon.
Nabakooba for the timely training and pledged to be transparent and to monitor PDM enterprises in their villages.
